I really enjoyed getting to meet all of the parents that came to Back to School Night yesterday. Thank you for coming! For those of you who couldn't make it, I would still love to meet you, so please stop by and say hello sometime.
The students are currently exploring the different reasons why reading is important. They are doing a small group project on the block days, and then we'll be working on a writing assignment in which they reflect on their personal experiences with reading. Whether they enjoy reading or not, whether their reading level is high or low, by the end of the trimester I want all of my students to identify as capable, ever-growing readers.

Wow, that was a whirlwind! I had so much fun getting to know my Home Team during welcome week, and also learning a little more about Graham. I am so excited to be a part of this community, and the more I learn about it, the more lucky I feel to be a teacher here. I think my favorite part of Welcome Week was teaching fencing during the Pursue Knowledge workshops. Some of the students got really good in just one hour!
I'm looking forward to having real classes next week, and getting started on all the things I have planned for English language arts this year. I'm still nervous about getting everyone's name right though, I think I'm going to need lots of reminders! |
